Location
Tiromoana Bush is located in the coastal hill country between Amberley and Motunau Beaches. This area of hill country forms the Motunau Ecological District, which extends from the Waipara River to the Hurunui River, and is bounded by SH1 to the northwest and Pegasus Bay to the southeast. Tiromoana Bush is centered on the Kate Stream catchment and extends from sea level to 340 m elevation along the Ella Peak ridge. A small part of Tiromoana Bush lies in the Selby Stream catchment which drains into the Waipara River.
Access to Tiromoana Bush is via Mt Cass Road, which leaves SH1 opposite the SH7 (Hanmer Springs/Lewis Pass) turnoff. The Tiromoana Bush Walkway carpark is approximately 10 km along Mt Cass Road from the SH1 intersection. The road is sealed for the first 5 km, and then has a mixture of gravel and sealed road to the start of the Tiromoana Bush walkway.
